Stroontz (Strunze) – From Urban Dictionary – Italian slang for shit head, dummy, stupid. Used in a sentence, “you are a big strunze.”
I’m a stroontz! Unfortunately, I can routinely act like a stroontz. I don’t mean to, but sometimes, just being me is unavoidably “strootz-ish”! If you have any doubts, just ask my wife or kids.
Like for example, not writing anything for nearly two years (until recently). I started this blog as a way to save stories of my life, my families’ lives, my families’ recipes, and people and things around me so that I can pass them on to my grandchildren. It was a result of my heart surgery scare, the realization that “I ain’t forever,” and the fact that I didn’t spend as much time with my elder family members when I was young to learn their stories because I AM A STROONTZ!
BUT, THERE’S A METHOD TO MY CURRENT WRITING MADNESS AND SUDDEN URGENCY…more on that in future posts.

It’s a techno beat song which I actually really like because I AM A STROONTZ!
But, it could be WAY, WAY WORSE, YOUR NAME COULD BE STRUNZE (see – https://www.ancestry.com/name-origin?surname=strunze). I would hope that this is an Ancestory.com joke by someone, but if not, I’m so sorry for them!
Well, I guess it’s not a joke…see https://www.facebook.com/birgit.strunze. This person has family members with the same name. So sorry for those German folks. I wonder what they think when they meet a Nebaletan? Just me writing this makes me giggle and further proves that I AM A STROONTZ!
I can give various excuses for not writing, but having a bad back is a pretty lame reason, especially since I was sitting on my ass for 6 months. And, by the way, what did I do for the year after my back was “fixed”? Nothing, because I AM A STROONTZ!
Now that’s firmly established, let me write on (as opposed to “right on, man” term from the 70’s)!
Finally, thanks to the folks who reached out to me about writing again…it’s nice to have “a following”!
